Release Notes

2007/09/01 - JMARS map layer beta

  • Moved JMARS downloads to faster server to shorten update times.
  • Enabled offline mode so users can run JMARS away from the internet (only data seen while online will be available though!)

2007/08/29 - JMARS map layer beta

  • Custom maps work once more. There were several needed fixes in both client and server.
  • Toggling the M and P buttons in the layer manager now affects the map layer as expected.
  • Hovering over the main view will show numeric values in a tooltip instead of the layer manager.
  • Numeric readouts are capped at five digits of precision.
  • Faster startup times (we were barraging the server rather pointlessly.)
  • Color stretcher stage no longer brightens grayscale images by default.
  • Advanced... dialog now stays in front of the layer manager as it should.
  • Map layer names in the layer manager are now short enough to fit.
  • The layer manager no longer resizes itself when you add new layers.
  • Many other minor performance, stability, and code cleanup changes.

2007/08/23 - JMARS map layer beta

  • The 3D layer has been ported to the new map system. It works!
  • Several view- and session-restore bugs have been closed.
  • Stamp layers are not usable in the Coor Computing Commons due to some kind of connection failure specific to Coor CC. We've handed the issue off to our trusty admins.
  • Custom maps should not be used until some serious breakage can be fixed (SOON.)
  • JMARS can now process maps on the fly, allowing custom stretches, graphical display of numeric data, and stacking maps together into e.g. an HSV composite.
  • Many new graphic maps available.
  • Numeric plotting functionality features vastly improved look, stability, and export.
  • Runs great under Java 1.6, the latest stable version of Java.
  • MOC stamp layer now supports the final phases of the MOC mission.
  • The 3D layer is disabled until it can be ported to the new map system (SOON.)
