JMARS release 5.7.0
Release 5.7.0 is a platform modernization update that upgrades JMARS to Java 17, improving long-term compatibility, stability, and readiness for future features.
JMARS Release 5.7.0 - a significant modernization of the JMARS platform
JMARS 5.7.0 is now available. This release upgrades JMARS from Java 8 to Java 17 and updates several core libraries, providing a modern foundation for future enhancements and long-term platform support. While these changes are largely internal and do not introduce major user-facing changes, they provide a more modern foundation for future JMARS development, improved compatibility with current operating systems, and continued long-term support for the application.
First Launch Notice
When launching JMARS 5.7.0 for the first time, users will see a one-time informational message regarding the upgrade.
Although we are not aware of any issues resulting from this transition, the message recommends creating backup copies of any JMARS session files (.jmars) and layer files (.jlf) before saving them in the new version. This is simply a precautionary recommendation associated with the underlying technology upgrades.
The notification will only appear once and does not require any action beyond acknowledging the message.

We are not aware of any issues related to the upgrade, but users experiencing unexpected behavior should contact the JMARS team at help@jmars.asu.edu.
