Using the formula field: Stamp Layer

Using the Stamp Layer and Formula Field

Step 1: Open the Stamp Layer

  1. Launch JMARS and navigate to the "Layers" panel on the left hand side.
  2. Click the "+" icon under the "Layers" section.
  3. Select any stamp layer you'd like. In this tutorial, we will be selecting the CTX Stamp Layer.

Step 2: Add Stamps to the Layer

  1. To add stamps, first add stamps to the layer. Double click the stamp layer in the layer manager.
  2. For this tutorial, we are going to add stamps by filtering Lon/Lat based on the Mainview.:
    1. Click the "Set lon/lat to bounds of view"
    2. Once you click that button, you will notice the Longitude (East) box now says, "MainView"
    3. Now click "OK" at the bottom to add the stamps. You may want to zoom in to lower the amount of stamps that come back.

Step 3: Open the Formula Window

  1. The Projected CTX Stamps Options window should open. Click the "Formulas..." button at the bottom of the window to open the "Column Formulas" window.

Step 4: Create the Formula

  1. First, if you'd like to change the name of your column, you can click the "Formula2" tab and rename it.
  2. Next, notice the icons next to various sections of the Formula Editor:
    1. The Insert Columns area allows quick access to your dataset's columns. Click the question mark icon for tips on using this feature.
    2. Start typing "incidence_angle" in the search bar. When it appears, double-click or press Enter to add it to your formula field.
  3. In the formula area, you can use various features to help build your formula:
    1. Click the question mark next to "Available Features" for help with the formula editor.
    2. View keyboard shortcuts by clicking the "Keyboard Shortcuts" option.
    3. For overall help on the Formula Editor, click the question mark icon next to "Formula Help".

Step 5: Enter the Formula

  1. After adding "incidence_angle" to your formula, you’ll see a result preview at the bottom showing an example value from the incidence_angle column.
  2. To modify this, type + 1.5 next to incidence_angle so the formula reads :incidence_angle: +1.5.
  3. Observe the result preview went from 52.09000015258789 to 53.59000015258789

Step 5: Apply the Formula

  1. Click the "SAVE" button and then the "Update Stamps Table"
  2. Your new column, "Formula2," will now display the calculated values.
